CTR
Competitive Trail Ride
SHFEA hosts an annual CTR, to help develop funds to establish equestrian trails in the Sam Houston National Forest.
This year the ride was held in conjunction with REGION IV BENEFIT RIDE and was on April 20-22, 2001. There were 92 entries. The ride is held on the Coldspring, Texas side of the SHNF which has old abandoned trams, pipelines, forest roads and single file trails. The campground is a large iron ore based area with shade trees. The Sam Houston CTR is an easy ride and excellent for first time riders. Shoes on horses are not required.
